WiseVirginParticipantI’m considering separating out ducklings from the parents when they are very young (1-2 weeks) so that I can control/capture them more easily for harvesting when the time comes, theoretically before their first molt. I also may want to encourage a second brood, so I know removing the ducklings will help that. I want to remove the ducklings to an area of my yard where I will house them until it’s time to harvest.
My question is: do I need to put up any kind of sound barrier to keep the peace? Will the adult ducks hear the ducklings and have a problem? At this point my setup would put them about 80 feet from each other with limited visibility. They will likely hear each other but there is a substantial hill involved so that helps. Is this sufficient?
